Consumers To Benefit From Fed’s Sweeping New Credit Card Rules

The new Credit Card Accountability, Responsibility and Disclosure (CARD) Act of 2009 benefits consumers. This is the most important step in an ongoing process that will increase protections and make card terms more predictable and manageable for customers. Data Points Fact Sheet The Credit Card Lending Market

The CARD Act of 2009 will greatly improve how consumers use their cards. The regulations announced this week, which go into effect on February 22, 2010, will give credit card customers greater control, protections and predictability. This is one part of a significant legislative effort to reform the credit card industry and grant more benefits and protections to consumers, but this legislation is being enacted against the backdrop of a harsh economic climate which has significant implications for how the new rules will impact both consumers and credit cards companies.
