State of the Economy

State Banking Laws
Here, you will find bills, acts and other law resources at the Michigan Legislature website www.michiganlegislature.org. At this site, you can search for bills using key words or bill numbers. It contains pending bills, old bills, and public acts for Michigan.

Record Retention
If you have data retention questions the MBA suggests you purchase the MBA Record Retention & Destruction Manual. The purpose of the MBA’s Record Retention Manual is to provide, in a user-friendly format, the record keeping requirements for Michigan banks imposed by the U.S. Congress, Michigan Legislature, and regulatory agencies. Do Not Call List
For questions about compliance or registration to the Do Not Call list refer to the Federal Trade Commission website www.ftc.gov.

For compliance questions Kirchman's website or services may be helpful www.kirchman.com. Another useful website is www.bankersonline.com. This website has answers to numerous questions and offers some free services.

Miscellaneous Questions:
Answers to miscellaneous banking questions can be found at www.bankinfo.com/quicklinks.html. This site offers answers to some common and not-so-common banking questions.
