Grassroots
Grassroots involvement is a very powerful force in politics. Consistent grassroots efforts are vital when it comes to persuading legislators how to vote on a specific issue. Getting to know your legislator makes your contact with them even more important. As a constituent, your concerns are important to your congressman and state representatives.
The MBA’s Contact Banker program works with the state legislators on Michigan issues. Our state efforts concentrate on building personal relationships between bankers and their state legislators.

Join MBA and Talk to Power
Unite with fellow bankers at the 2012 ABA Government Relations Summit, March 19-21, in the nation’s capital to let lawmakers and regulators know where you stand on issues affecting the banking industry. Hear from top government officials and make the case that your bank is an engine of economic growth in your community.
"Many bankers have become frustrated and disengaged with Washington. Don’t be one of them. If ever there was a time to engage your legislator it is now.” - Bob Worthington, Mercantile Bank
“The ABA GR Summit is a great opportunity to interact with fellow bankers from around the country, get updated on the latest issues and trends in the legislative and regulatory arena, and to meet with our Michigan members of congress to explain how their actions impact the communities that we serve.” - Art Johnson, United Bank of Michigan
