About the MBA

The Michigan Bankers Association (MBA) is an association of Michigan financial institutions with over 2,300 branches located throughout the statewith combined assets of over $200 billion. It is the mission of the MBA to advance a positive business environment for the Michigan banking industry and to foster safe, profitable, and successful banks, which in turn promote strong communities and economic activity in Michigan. The MBA acts as the official representative of member banks in matters of state legislation and regulation. As directed by its Policy Committee, the Association actively pursues legislation of benefit to the industry and the public at large, and opposes those measures which would hamper its member's ability to serve the needs of their banking customers.

The Association also works closely with the American Bankers Association and America's Community Bankers on selected issues in Washington. The MBA provides specific services that enhance the ability of member banks to operate effectively in providing services to the community. Each year, the MBA sponsors over 90 seminars, conferences, banking schools and an annual convention. Our educational programs strive to enhance the ability of its members to meet their needs in this complex and changing financial industry. Nurturing relationships between our member banks and organizations which provide products and services to them is of paramount interest. Consistent with that goal, the MBA offers an Associate Membership to organizations engaged in the sale of goods and services to Michigan banks. The MBA offers members a variety of employee benefits, publications, support and bank operation services.
